Richard Schubert, MD

Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

A South Texas native, Richard D. Schubert, MD, joined the Carrell Clinic in 1985. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, Phi Beta Kappa. In 1975, he came to Dallas to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas where he graduated in 1979. He completed an orthopaedic residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas. Following that training, he was awarded a fellowship in lower extremity total joint replacement at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland under David Hungerford, MD. Dr. Schubert is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He is also on the teaching staff at Baylor University Medical Center.

In addition to general orthopaedics, Dr. Schubert has a special interest in hip and knee joint replacement. Dr. Schubert is trained and certified in Birmingham Resurfacing Arthroplasty since 2006. A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, he has presented numerous papers on joint replacement surgery.

Married with three children, Dr. Schubert is an avid skier. He also enjoys golf and fly-fishing.
