Andrew Clavenna, MD

Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

Originally from Houston, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Andrew Clavenna, MD attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas where he played football. Dr. Clavenna graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport in 2000. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After graduating, Dr. Clavenna completed a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

Following his residency, Dr. Clavenna completed a fellowship in spine surgery with Dr. Robert Watkins and Dr. Lytton Williams at the Los Angeles Spine Surgery Institute in California. During this one-year fellowship, Dr. Clavenna focused on sports-spine injuries, degenerative spine disorders, and deformity management involving the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. While in Los Angeles, Dr. Clavenna conducted research using spinal navigation techniques, an advancement in spine surgery that allows for safer and more accurate placement of instrumentation.

Dr. Clavenna specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, artificial disc replacement (disc arthroplasty) and kyphoplasty in addition to more traditional spinal procedures. Rehabilitation techniques, injections and conservative therapies are included in Dr. Clavenna’s comprehensive treatment of the spine patient.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife of 10 years and two young daughters, as well as playing golf.
